What to Expect when you Start your Health Journey With Us

Your health journey starts with a 3 Step Process

Which we explain here:

Lets see how we can help you heal at Health Wise Chiropractic

1st Step

Your first visit at Health Wise Chiropractic

At Health Wise Chiropractic, we pride ourselves on the unique approach we take during your initial consultation, which stands in stark contrast to the traditional methods employed by conventional medical practitioners. Our process begins with a comprehensive examination aimed at uncovering the underlying dysfunctions that may have contributed to your pain and the limitations that prompted your visit to our office. This thorough assessment is crucial as it allows us to understand not just the symptoms you are experiencing, but also the root causes that need to be addressed for effective healing.

To facilitate this process, we will send you a new patient form prior to your appointment. This form must be completed in advance, as it provides our Doctor of Chiropractic with valuable insights into your medical history and current health concerns. This information will help us tailor the examination to focus on the specific areas that require attention, ensuring that we maximise the effectiveness of your visit.

Once you arrive for your appointment, we will conduct a detailed posture screening. This assessment is designed to evaluate your muscle and spinal hygiene, which are critical components of your overall health. By analysing your posture, we can gain a clearer understanding of where the underlying dysfunction may lie, allowing us to develop a more targeted treatment plan.

After the doctors have completed their comprehensive assessment, we will proceed with your first spinal adjustment. This adjustment is essential for enhancing your spinal hygiene and removing subluxations and setting your nervous system on a path of healing. It is our aim to restore optimal function to your spine, which is integral to your overall well-being.

In addition to spinal adjustments, we also focus on muscle hygiene through the application of Trigger Point Therapy. This therapy is designed to alleviate muscle tension and enhance your recovery process, ensuring that both your spine and muscles are functioning harmoniously.

Based on the findings from your initial examination, our doctor will provide you with recommendations regarding when to schedule your next appointment. This follow-up is crucial for monitoring your progress and making any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

2nd Appointment

2nd Step

During the second step of our process, we will conduct a re-examination of your body to assess the effectiveness of the initial treatment. One of the key indicators of good muscle and spinal hygiene is whether the adjustment has held and if the subluxation in your spine has not reoccurred within a seven-day period. This timeframe allows us to evaluate your body’s response to the treatment and determine if further interventions are necessary.

  • A sign that you have good muscle and spinal hygiene is if the adjustment has held and the subluxation in the spine hasn't reoccurred within 7 days.

  • If there is little improvement in the following days after the initial appointment, this is a sign that poor spinal hygiene and muscle hygiene exist.

During this follow-up visit, we will also present you with the results of your posture screening. This information is vital as it will help you understand the implications of your posture on your healing journey and what steps can be taken to improve it moving forward.

3rd Appointment

3rd Step in your us getting to know how to health you

3rd Step This is the most exciting step in the initial process

In the third and final step of our initial consultation process, we will develop a custom treatment plan tailored specifically to address your pain, enhance your mobility, and tackle the underlying nervous system dysfunction caused by subluxations. This personalised plan is designed not only to alleviate your current symptoms but also to promote long-term health and wellness.

Additionally, we will guide you on which online health programs will best support your healing journey. Our team has exclusively created these programs for our patients to ensure that they are relevant and effective in addressing your specific needs.

Our online training programs encompass a range of resources aimed at improving your overall health, including:

  • Exercise routines tailored to your capabilities and goals, facilitating strength and flexibility.

  • Stretching techniques are designed to enhance your range of motion and alleviate muscle tension.

  • Insightful advice to help you understand the nature of your pain and the underlying nervous system dysfunction that contributed to the problem, along with strategies to prevent the recurrence of subluxations in the future.

Through this comprehensive three-step process, we aim to empower you on your journey to recovery and optimal health, providing you with the tools and knowledge necessary to maintain your well-being long after your initial visits.

Why is vagus nerve dysfunction a problem for you?

To grasp the importance of the vagus nerve, it is essential to recognise that approximately 75% of the parasympathetic nervous system is comprised of the Vagus Nerve. This nerve plays a pivotal role in regulating various bodily functions, serving as a major communication pathway between the brain and the body. Its extensive reach throughout the upper body highlights its significance in maintaining homeostasis and supporting vital physiological processes.

The vagus nerve is known to be essential in the upper body, particularly affecting critical organs such as:

The heart: The vagus nerve helps regulate heart rate and blood pressure, ensuring that the cardiovascular system functions efficiently. Dysregulation can lead to issues such as arrhythmias or abnormal heart rates, which can pose serious health risks.

The lungs: This nerve aids in controlling the respiratory rate and can influence the body's response to stress, impacting how we breathe. Dysfunction may manifest as difficulty in breathing or an increased susceptibility to respiratory conditions.

Digestive function: The vagus nerve plays a vital role in stimulating digestive processes, including the secretion of digestive enzymes and the movement of food through the gastrointestinal tract. When this nerve is not functioning properly, it can lead to various gastrointestinal issues, affecting nutrient absorption and overall digestive health.

Furthermore, the vagus nerve also regulates a multitude of psychological and emotional states, influencing:

  • Mood: The vagus nerve is linked to the regulation of mood, and dysfunction can contribute to mood disorders, leading to feelings of sadness or irritability.

  • Emotion: It plays a role in emotional regulation, affecting how we process and respond to emotions, which can lead to heightened emotional responses or emotional numbness.

  • Behaviour: The vagus nerve's influence extends to behavioural patterns, potentially impacting social interactions and the ability to cope with stress effectively.

Recognising the signs of a Vagus Nerve Disorder is essential for early intervention and management.

Some common symptoms that may indicate dysfunction include:

Abdominal pain: Discomfort in the stomach area can signal issues with the digestive system regulated by the vagus nerve.

Acid reflux: The inability to properly regulate digestive processes may lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), causing heartburn and discomfort.

Dizziness and fainting: These symptoms can arise due to the vagus nerve's role in blood pressure regulation, leading to episodes of lightheadedness or syncope.

Loss of appetite: A malfunctioning vagus nerve may impact hunger signals, leading to reduced food intake and potential nutritional deficiencies.

Nausea and vomiting: Dysfunction can disrupt the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in feelings of nausea or episodes of vomiting.

Constipation: The vagus nerve is integral to the movement of the intestines; its dysfunction can lead to slowed motility and constipation.

Heart rate irregularities: Abnormalities in heart rate can occur, affecting overall cardiovascular health and increasing the risk of further complications.

Depression and anxiety: The connection between the vagus nerve and mood regulation suggests that dysfunction may contribute to mental health disorders, exacerbating feelings of anxiety and depression.

Sleep disorders: Finally, the vagus nerve's role in regulating stress responses can impact sleep quality, leading to insomnia or disrupted sleep patterns.

In conclusion, the vagus nerve is a critical component of the parasympathetic nervous system, influencing a wide array of bodily functions and emotional states. Dysfunction of this nerve can lead to a myriad of health issues, underscoring the importance of recognizing and addressing any symptoms related to vagus nerve disorders. Understanding these connections can empower individuals to seek appropriate medical advice and interventions, ultimately improving their quality of life.
