Why do we get a popping sound with a chiropractic adjustment ?
Now we all now i love a food metaphor/analogy, so you have probably heard me say many a time that the popping sound is like popcorn popping , but this time its in the back rather than in the cinema - excuse me as my mind now wonders about buttery cinema popcorn
Now back to the research
When we thrust as chiropractors, one sided cavitation sounds were detected in over 90% of adjustments and the rest were bilateral sounds
The number of audible cavitations per adjustment was around 4 and the mean duration of an adjustment was 60.77ms
So dont freak out if you hear lots of sounds on your next session, its normal and EXPECTED !
