In athletes, muscle disorders can cause

- back pain

- postural changes

- spinal injuries

Approximately, 1.71 Billion people worldwide suffer from muscle disorders that can affect the joints, bones, muscles, and spine

Athletes often have muscle disorders, with back pain being one of the most common

A German study found that 77% of athletes reported low back pain

63% had neck pain

46% had thoracic spine pain

The National Basketball Association conducted a study over a 17-year period and found that over 10% of all injuries involved the lumbar spine

Regular basketball training affects the curvature of thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis.

The most common injuries and postural changes in athletes were:

Spondylolysis ( a suggested reason is sports that involve hyperextension and rotation of the lumbar spine can lead to this dysfunction )

Lumbar spine injuries

Cervical spine injuries

2 out of 3 studies showed that the most common postural changes are

- Hyperlordosis - Increase in lumbar (low back) curvature

- Hyperlordosis- decrease in lumbar curvature

- Hyperkyphosis - increase in upper back curvature

They found female players had a higher prevalence, higher age was associated with low back pain and were more likely to have consecutive injuries.
