"Is Shockwave Therapy the Solution for Your Low Back and Leg Pain?"
Lower limb Tendinopathy (LLT) frequently occurs at :
the lateral to posterior hip as gluteal tendinopathy
anterior knee as patellar tendinopathy
posteriorly medial ankle as Achilles tendinopathy
posterior tibialis tendinopathy
What are the risk factors for lower limb tendinopathy?
According to research characteristics such as:
sex, age, occupation, physical activity level, and type of sports involved are risk factors for developing lower limb tendinopathy.
How shockwave therapy works:
Shockwave therapy is mainly responsible for pain relief, by acting directly on nerve fibres; tissue regeneration by stimulating vascularization; and reduction of calcium deposits in tissue
Research looked into low back pain relief compared to other therapies and found shockwave therapy provided better pain relief and improved lumbar dysfunction compared with the other interventions included, and no serious adverse effects were found
