5 important ergonomic factors associated with sitting and using the computer
Studies have shown that there is a significant association of low back pain with working posture , distance between table and chair, height of the computer and distance between the screen and keyboard with office workers
Its good to always re check your workstation as many offices have now gone to rotating schedules of where you work and of course working from home with screaming kids in the background
Low back pain is a challenge in office workers as there is an increase in sick leave and early retirement due to noncomplaint work stations leading to low back stressors
Sitting for long periods is often shown to result in low back pain
The IDEAL distance between a computer screen and chair is 20 inches- if your like me and terrible in measurements, extend the arm as much as possible and that is the distance between the chair and computer
Another great tip is is that you should have some distance between the front of knees and the table should be several cms apart as in to relax the body to allow the body to function properly
It is recommended that under 6 hours at the desk is optimal - more than 6 hours leads to low back disruptions
Distance between keyboard and mouse should be under 15 cm
Distance between table and chair should be more than 59 cms
