Common sports that have throwing activities include :

  • Baseball

  • Softball

  • Tennis

  • Football

  • Track fields like javelin, hammer throw and shot put.


With shoulder and elbow pain some of the most common complaints associated with throwing activities


Research in 2024 looked into how to increase

  • posterior shoulder flexibility

  • Strengthening the external rotator muscles

To prevent shoulder injuries from occurring in athletes


They found the following can benefit elite athletes in preventing shoulder problems from throwing:

  • sleeper stretching

  • shoulder external rotation strengthening exercises

  • prevention programs like our rotator cuff program!


Limitations in progress are the athletes' age, level of fitness and what positions they play on the team.
