Researchers looked into what happens to elite athletes that dont have current muscle dysfunction to see what happens when we use shockwave therapy


The athletes underwent three sessions of therapy administered every five days to the thigh muscles


So what happened to their muscles?

  • an increase in muscle elasticity

  • increase in muscle tone

  • increase in muscular recruitment


How did the shockwave therapy achieve this?


Researchers beleive that there is a biological effect on connective tissue which means

  • increase in blood flow

  • oxygenation

  • metabolic pprocess activation

  • and a proliferative effect ( an important event in vascular lesion formation.
