Low back pain is one of the BIGGEST health issues GLOBALLY


It can start off as an acute short lasting painful episode or it can become a chronic lifelong problem for many people.


Research from 2023 looked into whether our lifestyle can predict the trajectory of low back pain


If you remember from other blogs, research shows we should be aiming for UNDER 6 hours a day of sitting, but as a society we are averaging over 55% of our day sitting!


The research concluded that people with a LIFETIME history of low back pain, engagement in HIGHER volume of moderate to VIGOROUS intensity physical activity where likely to have a LOWER probability of developing a SEVERE trajectory over one year


They discovered that for every one minute increase in moderate to vigorous intensity activity per week had a 2.8% reduction in a participants probability to having a severe low back pain trajectory.


There was NO associations between sedentary behaviour and LIGHT INTENSITY physical activity improving low back pain trajectory
