In America, 2 million sports injuries occur each year, and research is being completed on how to prevent these injuries from occurring

Which parts are most likely to be injured?

The ankle and knee

The most common types are contusions and strains

When people are injured, the return to play time ranges from 15 to 19 days. Severe injuries take 105 days or longer if surgery required

Why injury prevention programs?

It has been shown that injury prevention programs can reduce injuries by 28% to 80% and that these programs can be successful in youth and young adults when performed for as little as 20 minutes per week.

Programs were most likely to be successful when implemented in both 15-minute and 20-minute blocks and utilised at least twice per week.

There was no difference in success when programs were initiated during the preseason or in-season; however, utilising a program for 3 to 6 months showed the best results
